Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

Of course I loved Fred....who didn't? My most endearing memory was learning that, after Fred's canine friend and companion died several years ago, he had the dog cremated but left the ashes in his truck because that's where the two shared quality time. I sent Fred a condolence, telling him that I had recently lost Spike, my best friend and the love of my life, and someone responded. Whether or not it was Fred who sent the email doesn't matter. I sincerely hope that, if Fred believed in heaven, he's up there now having a good ole time with his four-legged buddy. Wishing peace and acceptance to you and your family.
You always brought a smile to my face, Fred.....even at those ungodly early morning hours. Will miss you, good buddy. Keep the coyotes (the real ones) in line up there, OK? RIP, Fred.
Fred created memories, now they are treasures. To the entire Imus clan I hope your pain of your loss will be replaced by memories.
Dear Don Imus and family,
I was very sorry to hear about your loss. Your show is a source of inspiration in my life,
and it was quite apparent how much your brother was loved. I look forward to your return,
and the daily dose of humor and honesty that you always provide.
With Deepest Sympathy
I always enjoyed Fred calling in on Imus in the Morning. I always enjoyed the "love you" between the brothers to end a conversation. You will be missed Fred. God Bless the Imus family!
Fred was the best! We loved listening to his words of wisdom, what great guy. RIP Fred, you will be missed.
I hope you and yours are comforted in knowing that yours and Fred's love for each other, along your unabashed expressing that love at the end of your phone conversations is rare in most families these days.
Fred wasn't perfect.....none of us are. But Fred loved his animals and I got the feeling that when Fred told you the sun was shining, you didn't have to go check. Those two qualities in a man go a long way towards being a good human being.
Bless you and your work at Imus Ranch. It's not quantity......it's quality......
The Krmudjn
I returned from a close friends funeral Tuesday only to find I had lost another not so close but very much enjoyed friend.
All of Freds' calls were good, even when they were bad. The poor parrot and the very old salad are up there with the good ones!. Imus you helped me stop drinking (before you did) and your expression of Love to Fred at the end of every call has resulted in my doing the same with my other siblings in all of my emails. One never knows when it will be the last time we get to say it to them.
Imus we can only guess at the pain this has caused you, but we hope you feel the support of all of us.
Love a very long time listener
Fred was a man of unique talents and views on life. His abilities were impressive and his humor was always welcomed. He was a great visitor on the I man's show and host on his own program. We will miss him and his philosopy of life very much. R.I.P. Fred.
Condolences to all, Donnie, Don & his family and all others who loved him, heard this morning when listening to 850 out of Raleigh. he is now in a better place.
Iman,
Fred was always funny and entertaining when he was on the show. I enjoyed listening to his twisted sense of humor over the years. My condolensces.

I hope someone is looking after Fred's dog ( or dogs? ) I'm keeping an eye on my mom's dog after she passed away 2 years ago & Dad's in the old folks home...always loved how Fred would call in on the Imus in the Morning program and bring it right down to earth. Without Charles McCord or Fred Imus maybe the I-man should pack it in and let Bernard and Lou carry on with whomever on WABC- Curtis Sliwa perhaps? (hahaha) Anyhow, God bless Fred , guess he checked out before things get REALLY ugly in 2012
Fred's gentle demeanor on the radio when Don would interview him was always worth listening to. I particularly enjoyed his short jokes, the most recent being about his wife, reincarnation, and pigs. As a long time fan of the Imus radio show, I was saddened to hear of Don's family's loss, look forward to hearing the I-man talking about this during the coming weeks.
I have your book -- Two Men, Four Corners .....Have taken it with me in Arizona, Colorado and Utah....Can just picture the two of you bickering about various shots, horses, women and the beauty of this country. We will miss Fred and his love of you and your family, his family and the West. We send you our deepest sympathy and condolences.
I was so sorry to hear that he passed away....I have for years loved hearing him talk about his life. Isn't it funny, once those personalities are gone, everyone is sad. So many personalities in the world make the world fun....and sometimes hard work, but its life. God bless him........
i am so sorry for your loss i watch your show every morning and was so sorry for you loss i hurt for yy and your family i miss you on the show and it really hurts that i don't know how you are doing, you family it really does hurt,m
Damn Fred, you old coot! You had no business leaving us in the hands of your crazy older brother Don. I suppose it just got to be too much listening to Don bickering everyday with those New York lunatics. I know you had probably just had enough of that whizbang and wanted to be out somewhere in the Arizona desert on a horse or lying underneath a cool ironwood tree or riding up to Mount Lemon when it just got too hot down in the valley. Save me a toothpick up in heaven Fred, I've only got one or two real teeth left, but when and if I get up to heaven I'll sit around with ya' and gnaw that thing down to nub talking about the old days we knew in west.
It seemed like Fred Imus didn't keep his life in a neat box. He took it out in the sun and got everything he could out of it.
It was sad to hear of Fred's passing. I'm sorry for you and your family's loss. It was easy to see the mutual love between you. Fred's appearance on your show and his unique sense of humor will be missed.
Sorrry Fred passed away. He was so young. When he was on the show, he always brightened our day. Loved his humor.
When Fred visited the show, I would often laugh until I cried. Usually from snorting more than my fair share of breakfast fluid. Reading the messages from listeners, I find that I am laughing WHILE I cry. Condolences to his family and friends.
dear Mr Imus thank you for sharing your family with us we love you all
Should have been don
Always looked forward to Fred Imus appearing on the show. I have been a listener for 20 plus years. Fred always had something to contribute. I will miss his take on things, especially during what promises to be a painfully lame election season. I hope the producers of the show can put together a tribute to him.
