This Isn’t Our Last Love Letter

Dear Don Don,

Way back in 92

I walked into the room and knew

Never felt this way before

I shook your hand while gazing into your eyes

And the feeling grew

As I took a seat I knew

A love that would have my heart

Forever

I knew

Way back in 92

They say love at first sight doesn’t always last or isn’t true

We were the exception to that rule

Our love had no where to hide

A spark set fire

As if this is how the universe started

I never doubted our love or what we could do

Together we grew

Forming a bond everlasting

That became our glue

My euphoria was YOU

I’m eternally grateful for the love and life we shared

For how fortunate we were :

“to have and to hold
through sickness and in health
Til death do us part”

Until we are together again

This isn’t our last love letter

I love you with all my heart and soul

Yours forever,

Deirdre  (Mrs. Hank Snow)

I’m fortunate to have fallen in love with, marry and make a life with the sharpest, coolest, funniest, most rare, bad ass, tender loving, loyal man on the planet, my husband Don Imus.

A True American Hero

I don’t know why it has been so hard for me to write about my dear friend Don Imus.

I certainly know what he meant to me, my family, my charity, my hospital and the millions of fans that listened and loved him for so many years.

I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.

But what most people don’t talk enough about is what he did for all of us.

In every sense of the word, he was an American Hero. His work with children with so many different illnesses and his dedication to their future was unmatched by anyone I have ever known or heard about.

Besides raising over $100,000,000 for so many causes, he took care of young people for over 20 years in a state where he could not breathe.  Along with his incredible wife Deirdre, he created a world where children were not defined by their disease. That was a miracle! He was a miracle.

I will miss him ever day for the rest of my life.
I was blessed to be a part of his and Deirde’s life.
No one will ever do what he did.
I love you Don Imus - A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

David Jurist

A Tribute To Don Imus

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.

Don Imus Was Abrupt, Harsh And A One-Of-A-Kind, Fearless Talent

By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

Fred always made me laugh with his simplistic and down to earth humor. You could tell he wasn't a phony and told it like it was. I enjoyed his football picks. Especially when he would pass on teams that he hated. Been listening since 1997. My thoughts and prayers go out to you Don and the rest of the Imus family!. May Fred rest in eternal peace.! He will be sorely missed!

My wife and I met Fred about 10 years ago in Sante Fe. He was a joy to talk with, and laugh with. the only time I spoke to him.
My sincerest sympathies to you and your family.

Dear Don and family-

Most who have listened to your show over the years could easily pick up on the close relationship between you and your brother Fred. I always looked forward to his appearances and especially the brother to brother interactions. I'm reminded to tell my brother and sister I love them every time I end a phone call - thanks to you and Fred. God bless all of you.

I have been a regular listener for at least 15 years and I can't tell you the number of times I pulled into the garage at work, heard that Fred was coming on and just sat there in the car until he was finished. Whether the subject was NFL football, car racing, how many chickens his dog had killed or whatever foolishness was going on in Washington, I decided the rest of the world could wait until I heard what Fred had to say. I will miss him and my thoughts are with the Imus family.

Dear I-man,

I am sorry for your loss. Fred gave so many pleasurable moments, just by being who he was.

Dear Don, Deirdre and Wyatt--I'm so so sorry for your loss. I'm a long time listener and always loved hearing Fred on the show. I could listen to Don and Fred for hours! I felt the love between the brothers. Don NEVER forgot to tell Fred he loved him and knowing that should give some comfort to Don during his time of grief.

I only begcame an Imus fan a couple of years ago, but always looked forward to the mornings when Fred would be on. The love between Don and Fred was so obvious. Too bad that's not the way with so many families. He will obviously be sorely missed by many.

Mr. Imus and Family: So sorry to hear of the loss of Fred. Have always enjoyed his appearances on your show. Even though you two would go at it at times, the call always ended with" I love you".

I've been a listener for years and I always liked Fred's offbeat stories. I still have my Auto Body Express shirt that says fred on the front. Gonna miss him!!!

To the Imus group, including family:

Megan must be devastated (Rob) by Fred's passing. I look forward to the day Obama resigns from the Presidency, to recall Fred's disappointment at each press conference or briefing. We'll miss Fred's potentially perfect sports predictions.

I-Man: you had a good run with Fred, and judged by your comments, he's spinning records for the big guy upstairs.

God Bless Fred

I was both shocked and saddened to here of Fred's passing. Although I did not know him beyond his appearances on the show, I felt his loss none the less. His stories and accounts of life and (mis)adventures left me thinking many times that he was a ordinary guy dealing with life in sometimes extraordinary circumstances. It was how he dealt with the extraordinary that made me admire and like him.

He will be missed.

Mr. Imus,
I can't tell you how many times hearing you sign off by telling Fred you loved him, has inspired me to reach out to my own brother. I thank you for those honest moments and will miss hearing that brotherly exchange between you and Fred. Your love for one another was truly evident and inspirational to me. My sincere condolences to you and your family...God Bless you Fred...

I new something terrible must have happened since I didn't see you on the show all week. "He ain't heavy, he's my brother"... may your brother's soul find peace, solace and joy in the worlds beyond. May you be consoled for your loss. God bless.
