Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

Don and family....I enjoyed when Fred was on your show and got to look so forward to his phone calls...he sounded like quite a man and how much you loved him showed when you signed off saying "I love you Fred"...please accept my deepest sympathy for you and your family.
Thank goodness for my DVR. I record every Imus show so I can go back and see my favorite episodes. The ones with Fred are priceless!! He will be surely missed.
My sympathies go out to the Imus family. Fred was the other half of a phenomenal duo. Will miss his occasional visits on Imus in the morning......He had such a dry sense of humor...I remember when Megan(Dagens sister) asked if he was married and his answer was hysterical...R.I.P. Fred
For years I have enjoyed Fred's appearances on the IMUS in the Morning show. The loving banter between the two brothers has brought many a smile to my face. I also loved the down to earth humor of Fred and of Don when Fred was on the show. My sincere condolences to Don and the rest of the IMUS family. RIP Fred and thank you for brightening up my day on many an occasion.
We are long time fans going back to when you were only on the radio. Fred was always entertaining and his love of his dogs, horses and family plus his stories were truly enoyed by all. We go to Arizona for the winter and always wish we could have seen him somewhere around town to get a picture with him or just say hello. We wish all his family our sympathy at this time, keep his memory alive.
Don,
May I join the thousands who offer condolences on the untimely passing of Fred? Anyone who has listened to Imus in the Morning as long as I have knows the affection that was deeply rooted within you two extraordinary siblings. I also know that all us whom were fortunate enough to have recognized Fred's spirit, modesty and beautiful philosophy now too share your grief.
The thing that told me the most about Fred were his dogs. Fred’s love for them and the tenderness displayed when he spoke of them shows what a virtuous person he was. One can see into the soul of an individual by the way he or she treats their pets. As far as I am concerned, this is the seminal indicator of a man's character.
I know that there is now a very lonely dog in Tucson.

I had the opportunity to meet Fred years ago and have had a massive crush ever since. Dry sense of humor, humble, hard working, with a smile that could melt. All the best traits of a man from the West.
On the Best of Imus, he WAS the best Imus.
Bless you all.
Dear Mr. Imus,
My condolences go out to you and family on the passing of your brother, Fred. Whether talking about ranching, country music or losing cantelopes, he came across as not only entertaining but as a truly kind person. The love between you and Fred also came through on the air in between all the banter and jokes and occasional insults.
Heaven is a happier place now and may God bless Fred and you and your family during the difficult time.
sad to hear of Fred's passing,Hang in there IMan,
Fred seemed to be enjoyhing life, I know I sure enjoyed his show and his calls to his brother's show.
God Speed Fred and comfort to the Imus family. Ed and Willie Dog
Dear, Imus family.
I'm truly sorryfor the loss Of your brother, father, and uncle. and grandfather I believe.? Fred was a great welcome to the Imus in the morning freak parade. It didn't take a genius to tell that you two were brother's. I know what it's like too lose a brother!
I believe he's in cowboy heaven if their is one .
God bless, the Imus family. A loyal. listener for many a year.

Sorry for your loss, he was a good man, enjoyed his visits to the show. May he rest in peace.
Heaven has another true cowboy and an exceptionally funny and honest man.
I always liked it when Fred was on the show. He had a special way about him that endeared him to me. The fact that the two of you, Don, had such a loving relationship made me wish I could have that with my siblings. I am sorry about your enormous loss.
Charles quits, Fred dies. Imus, you are a bad man.
You two on the radio was some of the best stuff ever. The story of your dog licking the old lady to death was a scream. Fred trying to 'hit' on Laura Ingraham, after you set him up, classic. Your ending your calls with him with 'I love you', no man ever said that on the air to another man before (except Barney Frank).
we are long time listeners and always enjoyed when Fred was on the show. Our deepest sympathy on his passing.
Dear Imus, Our hearts go out to you and your Family for this terrible loss. WE have been avid listners and viewers ( every morning ) for years ever since our Greenwich Village days. Aside from the fact that Fred was a great guest, it was very comforting to hear both of you say, when signing off, say ' I LOVE YOU ' to each other.
Celebrate his life, he deserves it.
My condolences to the Imus family.
As a long time listener I will miss listening to Fred.
He was always able to brighten my day.
Dear I-Man:
When I lost my younger brother nearly thirteen years ago, it was as if a piece of me actually died with him. The kidney I donated failed and eventually Murphy wanted to live in heaven, which is where he resides to this day. I know your heart is broken and there truly is no closure, but with time a scab forms over your heart - it's just not one you want to pick at.....Please come back to us when you're ready, so many of us care for you even though we've never met. In grace, Brandee Running Horse
Keeping all of the Imus family in my prayers.
We were shocked & saddened when we heard the news about Fred. When he called into the Imus show, his comments never failed to make us laugh. And as hilarious as he could get, he was so low-key and droll and you could "hear" that his comments were said with a straight face. We agree with some of the other comments posted, the love between Don & Fred was almost palpable and they never failed to end their phone calls with a genuine "I love you". Our deepest condolences to his family & close friends.
I think I might have loved him even more than I love you! He had such a wonderful dry sense of humor, loved his animals, not so much the ex-spouses. I am so sorry for your loss.
Long time fan of Imus in the Morning. Loved when Fred called in cuz he always said what was on his mind and added good humor to the show. I have my "Two Men" book on my coffee table--have for years. Glad you always signed off your ph call with him by telling him you loved him. He was a character. Miss Charles on the show too! RIP Fred.
I loved when Fred was on Imus, he always made me chuckle.
Fred was the perfect definition of a 'one of a kind' person. I gues that's a trait that runs in the Imus family. Don, Deidre and Wyatt......all of us send our thoughts and prayers!
Talk about "a man of the people". He died in his sleep in his trailer in Tucson.
Fred said it like it should be said.
I man.....take your grief time. And then, get back on that horse. Fred wouldn't want you to whine.
the calf is with him..........
