Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

The first time I heard Fred on your show he had somehow lost a cantaloupe somewhere in his house. I laughed so hard. I always looked forward to his chats with Don on his show. He will be missed. I wish the Imus' the best during this painful time, especially Wyatt, who has lost his uncle too soon.

My sincere condolences to the Imus family. Fred was a trip and joy to listern to. I'm thinking of you in your time of grieving I Man. May Fred rest in peace under the western sky.
My condolences to Imus and family. Fred always made me hoot with laughter especially when talking about his dog(s). RIP Fred.
The Imus family lost a good man! I actually spoke with Fred when he personally took my order for some Auto Body Express shirts for me and my Dad. That was before it went HUGE! The salad story, the cantaloupes and the automotive "tip of the week" were all great moments on the show. You have no idea how much mileage I got out of the "Lick-a lot-of-puss" joke. I set it up just as easily as Fred did! When I heard it live, I nearly drove off the road! My condolences to you and your family.
Regards,
Don

Imus,
We met 8 years ago through Daevin and Suzi. I am truly sorry for your loss. Hold close to your heart all the memories you have with your brother and know we are keeping you in our prayers. You now have another angel watching over you.
The Imus in the morning show will not be the same without Fred Imus.....
We always enjoyed his off the wall humor... RIP
RIP, Cowboy Fred! God rest your soul.
I loved listening to Fred when he was a guest on your show. He was such a hoot and gave me many laughs. My sympathy to you and your family. He will be missed.
I am so sorry to learn of Fred's passing. He was always such a pleasure to listen to as a guest on Imus' program. His number one country song, "I don't want to have to marry you," was a great song. Very well written. I used to listen to it and try to figure out how to write one as good. As luck would have it, I did end up writing the title cut of Jim Ed Brown and Helen Cornelius' second album ("Born Believer") but it wasn't nearly as good a song as Fred's. He sure was a talented guy and I, like so many others, will miss him a lot. My condolences to the Imus family.
Fred, RIP..You were always enjoyable to lisiten to on the Imus in the Morning program. Satellite Radio will not be the same without you.
Ya know Fred, I no longer have an excuse to delay going to work because when you were scheduled to be on with Don, I would hang around the house to make sure I didn't miss the segment. We so much appreciated your down to earth, folksy humor and the genuine interaction of brotherly love between you and Don........and yes, you knew how to handle the I Man........"that's enough Fred and I love you" is clearly a "sign-off" we will miss. Betcha that '57 Chevy is perfect up there! God bless ya
I had the pleasure of working for Fred for several years when he opened the Auto Body Express store in Santa Fe.
There was never a dull moment working with Fred and some of my best memories come from that time.
He was a wonderful boss and a hell of a good guy. Simply one of the most generous people I have met.
I am truly saddened by Fred's passing, he will be sorely missed.
My sympathies go out to his entire family during this difficult time.
Fred's love of life was contagious. I can only imagine the sense of loss the Imus family is feeling so I hope my prayers help alleviate your pain. I will miss Fred very much and hope that your grief is soon replaced by recalling the happiness and love he shared with all! Fred probably has Saint Peter in stitches already!
Imus family,
My most sincere condolences to the Imus family. I will pray for your most beloved brother. I knew him only through the Imus Show, but he always brought a smile along with him. And when he was on a roll....I was falling off my chair! Now he is making the baby Jesus smile! Fred's loss leaves an emptiness in all of our hearts. Bless him!
Most sincerely,
Helen Christ
A true American Original. Condolences to the entire Imus family.
TO THE ENTIRE IMUS FAMILY, CAST, AND CREW I WISH TO EXPRESS MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY IN THE LOSS OF FRED. HE MADE ME LAUGH MANY TIMES AND I ALWAYS LOOKED FORWARD TO HIS APPEARANCES. TO LOSE A BROTHER THAT YOU WERE SO CLOSE TO MUST BE A TERRIBLE THING. HE IS IN A MUCH BETTER PLACE FOR SURE! GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
The thing about Fred's Outlaw Country show is that it never felt like it was actually a radio show. You could just picture Fred & Co. just sitting around in a kitchen talking, and they just happened to be on the air at the time. It was unique, and I hope they find a way to keep it going in his memory.
RIP, Fred....
