Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

I was shocked and very saddened to hear of Fred's passing ! I was always happy to hear that Fred would be on the show, he always made me laugh and feel relaxed ; maybe it was his downhome wisdom and his lack of airs that accounted for it. I will miss hearing him ! Finally Don, I want to wish you and your family my sincerest condolences, since I know what you're feeling , having lost both a brother and a sister at young ages ! God bless Fred and may he give you solace !
Im a long time listener, very sad to hear the news of your brother passing. My prayers are with you and your family and this difficult time.
to the Imus Family, My condolences to your 's and Fred's family on his passing. Loved his jokes on your program.
Dear Mr. Imus:
I am a long time listener/viewer of your show and must say that the calls from Fred will surely be missed. My sympathy and prayers to you and you family and friends.
Condolences to the IMAN and family on the loss of Fred. I have been a longtime listener, and always loved it when Fred would call. He also made a hell of a Salsa, and i am ordering some in memory of him. I still have a box top from the old auto body express with Fred in his truck! Think i'll hang it in my trailer.love ya!
I am a longtime listener, and I have enjoyed listening to Fred for years. I especially liked how the brothers signed off all the time, telling each other that they loved one another. I was truly sorry to hear about Fred's passing, and I know how much he will be missed.

Loved listening to Fred on Don's program talk about his dog, horses, trailor, and ex-wife Phyllis. What I will always remember most is the love between the brothers and the "I love you" at the end of their conversation. My little brother passed away 5 years ago on August 12 at the age of 49. He was my best friend.
My condolences to the entire Imus family. We will all miss Fred.
SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR LOSS,FRED WAS ONE OF A KIND AND ADD TO THE SHOW
Because you are your brother were so close, I realize how deeply this loss will touch you.
Please accept my sincere sympathy. The entire IMUS family is in my prayers.
I listened to Imus in the Morning and Crazy Bob back in the early 70s. I believe Fred was a DJ on New York's country music station back then. May he rest in peace. God Bless him. My condolences to the entire family.
Don, really all I can say is I'm sorry. I am a recently retired airline captain who has listened to you for almost 40 years. I'm the one who writes in to Carly to try to get Larry Kinney to join Rob and Tony. If you get him to come on and do a few guest spots I'll share some of my Vicodin. I'm not kidding. Take care and keep up the good, no, great work! Bill
In 1997 four of us were on a road trip out west. We stopped at the Imus warehouse in New Mexico. Even though it was closing time Fred welcomed us in. He treated us just like we were all friends. In person he was the same sincere person we heard on the radio. The picture that was taken that day has been posted on my Facebook account.
We always enjoyed the banter between Don and Fred and their honest affection for each other. We still have our Auto Body Express shirts from back when we woke up to the WFAN morning show. Fred' s dry wit will be sorely missed.
Miss you enjoy the show on OutLaw Country.
It was very well done.
Don and family,
I echo the sentiments of other writers who told of speaking to Fred himself when placing an order at the Autobody Express. I recall being stunned that it was really him on the other end of the phone! Years later, you and Fred came to our town to do a book promotion -- and he was so sweet to my children. I am so fortunate to have had those two interchanges with your wonderful brother. He was pretty handy with the football predictions too!!
Our deepest sympathies to you and your family. We've been listening to you since the Cleveland days. We'll miss Fred--particularly his bantering with Dagen's "sister." God bless the whole family and the wonderful work you do. May Fred rest in peace.
I am just now finding out about Fred. My heart feels so empty and sad for all of us that have "brothers" and friends like Fred. I so loved the dry humor and the love that Don and he expressed to each other.Don, I am so sorry for your loss and so glad you have so many good moments to remember. Take care. BunkyK
My condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Fred Imus.
He was a terrific guest everytime he appeared on the Imus in the Morning show -- even if he didn't have anything funny to say.
Thank you I-Man for your show of strength during your time of sorrow -- an inspiration to all who have lost someone to continue to live on.
I'm sure George Carlin and Fred are keeping each other entertained.
Sincerely,
D-Man
Fred was the real deal. I will miss his contributions greatly and I hope he has found peace. Or at least his cantaloupes. My thoughts and prayers are with the Imus family.
I loved when Fred referred to Don's drinking days, saying " I liked when he (Don) was drinking because I could borrow money and he wouldn't remember!"
I will miss Fred!
Fred struck me as a guy you'd want to have a beer with, telling lies and stories from the old days. A good ol boy, as we say here in texas, the highest praise a man can recieve. God rest his soul, my condolences.
Dear Mr.Imus: I am a very long time listner(back to the days of the jesus statue on the dashboard). I would like to extend my sincere condolences to you and your family about the passing of your brother Fred.. Everyone loved Fred, and his wit and all american cowboy. I know the ache you have in your herart and hope you will find a little relief in knowing your radio community mourns with you..
Fred was a member of the "Pearl Harbor Babies Club". Membership criteria - Your Momma was pregnant with you when the Japs bombed Pearl Harbor. Because of Pearl Harbor Fred came into this world looking over his shoulder and hopefully was still looking when he left us. A couple of other members of our club are Stephen Hawking and Barbra Streisand. Whenever we all got together for drinks, Fred would always hang with Stephen rather than Barbra saying she was a bit too chatty for him. RIP Fred.
GOD BLESS THAT WONDERFUL MAN
Rich
Dear Imus family,
