Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

Don- I'm new to you and your program, only listening/watching for about 2 years. However, I loved the days when Fred was on your show. It was very obvious that you two had a very special bond and it warmed my heart to hear your conversations ALWAYS end with, "I Love You." I am very sorry for your loss.
Don, Diedre, Wyatt, I did not know for several days after it happened that Fred had died. I am so very sorry for your loss. The whole nation heard each time you, Don, spoke with him the last words you said to each other, "I love you." Two tough men who grew up and learned to end every conversation with those most important of words, and not be embarrassed about it. Condolences to you all. You are all in the prayers of many.
Imus, every morning the first thing I turn on is the TV to Imus and have my coffee. My husband and I love your show!!! But this morning I am crying because of your loss, tears running down my face. I too lost my brother at what I deem at a young age of 64. Bless you and your family.
Love you Imus, Deidre, Wyatt... Fred made me laugh out loud, which is very hard to do. I wish I had a Deidre in my life, to save me from dying of a broken heart. Imus, you got it good even if you have to eat box packaging.
I loved and bought my first T shirt with Freds' face on the front. He so looked like what I imagine the ole west cowboy to look like. It was a perfect picture and will always remember and treasure
What a face looking out over the south 40
To Don Imus and family,
So sorry to hear of Fred Imus' passing. I have enjoyed listening to his unique perspective on life and related to many, (most of them) of his views. Guys like Fred are a rare breed these days. Keep your chin's up with Fred in your hearts, god bless all of you.

a man of few words but the words he uttered ALWAYS made me smile or laugh......but my biggest impression and memory is how he always said i love you to don at the end of his stints on the show......only real men say i love you.
Mr Imus,
I, too, was saddened to hear of Fred's passing. My mornings are not the same without listening to you and the entire cast on Imus in the Morning and man I loved it when Fred was a gues! aI found myself laughing just thinking of some of the conversations ya'll have had and we get to enjoy on the Best of Imus. I haven't lost a sibling yet, but I did lose a precious 28 year old niece to cancer. No way to avoid heartache in this world. However, aren't you a better person to have had Fred in your life?
Saturday mornings will not be the same without listening to Fred on Outlaw. Each Saturday morning I would drive my mom and dad to the local Waffle House and market while laughing about Fred's musings on life. Many times the topics were a little uncomfortable.... but that's what made it so fun! We will miss you Fred!
I wish i could help you all with the empty and heavy hearts you now have. A loss of a brother isnt easy a friend ,a gift from God. I pray for God to help you get through the pain. I know you have had the wind knocked out of you,im sorry, We love you all,we pray for you Don Imus and all the Imus family, Love and many prayers, EW, WV.
I will miss the occasional"Fred" addition on the Imus show, it was always a treat to listen to the man that had the absolute "best" outlook on life!
RIP Fred .

The forward thinkers of the world rejoice in your loss, Don.
To the Imus Family
I will always remember Fred and the scruffy sensitive funny guy who was one of the most unique individuals ever. Always loveded seeing hime on Imus in the Morning. Wish he could have been on more often. Always loved hearing Fred and his funny, funny view on life and the people in it. My funniest memory was when he said I turned on the president's speach and he did not resign so I turned it off. He really cracked me up and I really loved him. Don, my heart goes out to you. I know how much you loved your dear brother.

Mr. Imus and family,I am sorry for your grief. Most people look at how long they have known someone before they die. It doesn't matter how long but that you knew them. You loved them ,you spent time with them, they loved you. It would be nice if evryone lived a long time but that doesn't happen. Be nice to your loved ones and you'll have no regrets. Take care. Anthony
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Imus family. I know how much he meant you. It was always easy to see how much Don and Fred truly loved each other.
Fred was the funniest guest Don ever had on the show. May God Bless him!
Whenever I heard Fred and Imus banter on the show, then sign off with "I love you, brother."...it brought to mind that country song "Brotherly Love"--by Keith Whitley (or Earl Thomas Conlee--I get those 2 mixed up). My condolences. Bless you all.
dear mr. imus;
this is a very sad day indeed.i have been a daily listner and watcher of your show for many years,i am just sad about the passing of your brother, fred.what an american legend.both you and fred are for sure.great americans.i guess i just want to say,my heart and the hearts of many, many american and all my friends from around the world go out to you and your entire family,mr. imus.we love you guys very, very much.we call you,MR. DON "STRAIGHT SHOOTER"IMUS in our house and in our circle of friends.god bless you sir.all the very best to you and peace always.
My prayers are with you and your family...Fred always made me laugh...his stories were classic... i will always think about Bob, when Fred comes to mind and will always put a smile on my face.
I've run across a few guys who I imagine were a lot like Fred. Old cowboys, or younger ones who looked and acted like they had some years on them. Faces that had worn out a couple of bodies. Plain speaking, honest, hard working guys, who'd do anything for you, if they took a liking to you. If not, you'd know it. They're far and few between, and we're better for having known them. Let 'er buck, Fred.
I cried because it was so easy to see the love between the brothers, and I know what it's like to lose one.
RIP Dear Fred.. you will be remembered as a sweetheart.
Rest in Fred I'm going to miss you very much.
Condolences to all of Fred's family and friends. I always enjoyed when he appeared on the Imus show - must listen radio. The exchanges between Fred and Don and the rest of the staff could be hysterical.
I'm glad I waited until today to post because I loved hearing the I-Man talk about his brother. And that Fred's horses have been brought to the ranch to live. And there is no better resting place for Fred than that ranch. He is home.
RIP Fred.
