This Isn’t Our Last Love Letter

Dear Don Don,

Way back in 92

I walked into the room and knew

Never felt this way before

I shook your hand while gazing into your eyes

And the feeling grew

As I took a seat I knew

A love that would have my heart

Forever

I knew

Way back in 92

They say love at first sight doesn’t always last or isn’t true

We were the exception to that rule

Our love had no where to hide

A spark set fire

As if this is how the universe started

I never doubted our love or what we could do

Together we grew

Forming a bond everlasting

That became our glue

My euphoria was YOU

I’m eternally grateful for the love and life we shared

For how fortunate we were :

“to have and to hold
through sickness and in health
Til death do us part”

Until we are together again

This isn’t our last love letter

I love you with all my heart and soul

Yours forever,

Deirdre  (Mrs. Hank Snow)

I’m fortunate to have fallen in love with, marry and make a life with the sharpest, coolest, funniest, most rare, bad ass, tender loving, loyal man on the planet, my husband Don Imus.

A True American Hero

I don’t know why it has been so hard for me to write about my dear friend Don Imus.

I certainly know what he meant to me, my family, my charity, my hospital and the millions of fans that listened and loved him for so many years.

I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.

But what most people don’t talk enough about is what he did for all of us.

In every sense of the word, he was an American Hero. His work with children with so many different illnesses and his dedication to their future was unmatched by anyone I have ever known or heard about.

Besides raising over $100,000,000 for so many causes, he took care of young people for over 20 years in a state where he could not breathe.  Along with his incredible wife Deirdre, he created a world where children were not defined by their disease. That was a miracle! He was a miracle.

I will miss him ever day for the rest of my life.
I was blessed to be a part of his and Deirde’s life.
No one will ever do what he did.
I love you Don Imus - A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

David Jurist

A Tribute To Don Imus

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.

Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust

Don Imus Was Abrupt, Harsh And A One-Of-A-Kind, Fearless Talent

By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

Remembering Fred Imus

Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69

Suddenly gone,

He was,

A familiar voice,

Kindred soul.

Seemed like I knew him from

Somewhere.

His voice was a balancing force

Against his brother,

A spirit like his

Only different.

He was the younger?

Still surprised,

He seemed older by his

Simple

Country street

Wisdom.

Corny jokes?

A wellspring there,

My cringing face

Delighting

In his satire,

And

Wit.

Like the old ones that I visit,

He got the wish they nearly all have,

To die peacefully in one’s sleep,

To exit quietly this life they have had,

Yet to those around them,

A shock,

No saying goodbye,

Only hazy and happy memories,

Of a man

Who was

Suddenly gone.

I would stop what I was doing and always just listen when Fred was on.
Anybody who has ever loved a mean dog could relate to Fred.
Brothers who love each other are a blessing to others.

Fred reminds me a lot of my brother, Frank, who also passed on way too soon (age 51 in 1995). Both of them--honest, unpretentious, decent, loyal. As with Fred, Frank also died in his sleep and only took drugs to manage his biipolar condition; otherwise, his health was OK. The coroner told me he'd never seen anyone look so peaceful during that final sleep. No pain, no suffering. It sounds like Fred's death, too, while untimely and far too early-on, was mild/gentle/quiet. They died in the way they lived. We all should be so blessed. My sincere condolences.

By the by, that's a wonderful photo of Fred.

The first and only time my wife and I met Fred was at a Don Imus book signing in New Jersey (1997 I believe). We could tell he and Don were close and were loving brothers. On the humorous side he was looking at my wife's t-shirt for a rather long period of time. Not sure if it was the message on the shirt or her breasts. May the Good Lord Bless and keep you Fred.

I always enjoyed listening to Fred when he was on Imus. His good ol American voice was a delight to listen to. I especially enjoyed the episode with Megan on the Imus in the Morning show when he thought that Megan was actually Dagen's sister. We will miss you fred. My heart goes out to Don and this family on this very sad moment in his life.

Fred was priceless, the best part of the show during the MessNBC run. His spontaneous country wit and insight was so unique for a radio show. God speed Fred Imus!

May Fred soul rest in perfect peace. I don''t personally know Fred, I saw him on the Imus in the morning show on Fox, It was after the state of the Union speech that the president had given, and Don, ask him what did he think about the speech and Fred said, "I listen for two minutes and when it became clear that he was not resigning, I switch channel. " Something like that, I thought that was so funny and that is one of my many memory of Fred. I am a frequently listener of the Imus in the morning show and I am impressed with what you are doing with the kids on your ranch Mr Imus.

I've always enjoyed Fred's visits to the show. The stories of his dogs were fun and entertaining. You could feel the love between the brothers, and I can only imagine the sadness the I Man has in his heart.
Don, you will always have the love and memories of Fred in your heart the fall back on in those times when you feel his loss. God Bless

Dear Fred,
We never met, never spoke on the phone, never exchanged emails. So why do I feel such a deep sense of loss at your passing? I guess the reason is likely to remain a mystery, but I suspect we would have been, could have been, friends if circumstances had allowed. Rather than list all the common character traits (flaws?) we shared, I can sum it up in a short phrase: I got you. What you said made sense to me. Even when you made no sense at all. I miss you already, and it’s not even Saturday yet.
Your Friend,
Bill Holschuh

My heart goes out to the Imus family. Fred was a breath of fresh air on the mornings he was on Don Imus' show. I loved the way the two brothers always ended their conversation with "I love you". I never hang the telephone up with my daughter or grandchildren without saying those words and they will always comfort you when you think of Fred. And for Don especially, always remember he loved you as much as you loved him. He will be missed very much. Condolances to the family, so sorry for your loss. My love to your beautiful family, Jay

I always admired Fred for his forthright thoughts whenever he was on Dons show. It was always great to hear Don set him up for his opinion on whaterer he wanted him to say. Fred you will be greatly missed. May the good Lord be with all of you during these times of sorrow. Just remember all the good times you have had with Fred . Hang on to these and they will get you through. God Bless the Family.
