This Isn’t Our Last Love Letter

Dear Don Don,

Way back in 92

I walked into the room and knew

Never felt this way before

I shook your hand while gazing into your eyes

And the feeling grew

As I took a seat I knew

A love that would have my heart

Forever

I knew

Way back in 92

They say love at first sight doesn’t always last or isn’t true

We were the exception to that rule

Our love had no where to hide

A spark set fire

As if this is how the universe started

I never doubted our love or what we could do

Together we grew

Forming a bond everlasting

That became our glue

My euphoria was YOU

I’m eternally grateful for the love and life we shared

For how fortunate we were :

“to have and to hold
through sickness and in health
Til death do us part”

Until we are together again

This isn’t our last love letter

I love you with all my heart and soul

Yours forever,

Deirdre  (Mrs. Hank Snow)

I’m fortunate to have fallen in love with, marry and make a life with the sharpest, coolest, funniest, most rare, bad ass, tender loving, loyal man on the planet, my husband Don Imus.

A True American Hero

I don’t know why it has been so hard for me to write about my dear friend Don Imus.

I certainly know what he meant to me, my family, my charity, my hospital and the millions of fans that listened and loved him for so many years.

I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.

But what most people don’t talk enough about is what he did for all of us.

In every sense of the word, he was an American Hero. His work with children with so many different illnesses and his dedication to their future was unmatched by anyone I have ever known or heard about.

Besides raising over $100,000,000 for so many causes, he took care of young people for over 20 years in a state where he could not breathe.  Along with his incredible wife Deirdre, he created a world where children were not defined by their disease. That was a miracle! He was a miracle.

I will miss him ever day for the rest of my life.
I was blessed to be a part of his and Deirde’s life.
No one will ever do what he did.
I love you Don Imus - A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

David Jurist

A Tribute To Don Imus

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.

Don Imus Was Abrupt, Harsh And A One-Of-A-Kind, Fearless Talent

By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

I was thinking of Fred this morning as I was peeing and the dog almost got a face full as his dog Fred once did. I hear there is a very angry parrot waiting for him. He will be sorely missed. Fred not the parrot.

I adored Fred's dry sense of humor and honesty. He lived the life he wanted, I will so miss the conversations between two brothers who loved each other. I am so sorry that he is gone and my heart goes out to all of the Imus family. Fred, you ALWAYS made my day.

Uncle Fred, well he seemed like an old uncle, was that oddly shaped piece in the puzzle of lif that made this crazy world seem not so bad.. I always made a point not to miss IITM when Fred was on. It was My kind of wisdom that he shared, for sure. Fred, may your trailer house in heaven have its roof held down with golden tires. At 1700.00 an ounce, that no chump change.

Don Imus --- Everyone who's ever heard you have a conversation with your brother could tell how much you two loved one another. You'll miss him a lot but know that Proverbs 17:22 says "A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones." Keep your bones moist with the laughter you've always had. Fred would want that. You and your family will be remembered daily in my prayers.

Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of you brother Fred. I haven't always been kind to you in my emails but Fred had a way of making one feel better toward others. So he has made a better person of me.

Sorry for the bad emails,

Sam from Texas

For the entire Imus family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Tonight when I went on your website to read and write a few words in remembrance of Fred, for the first time I explored the pictures and the videos from the ranch. I’ve known for a long time the great work that you do at the ranch. I’ve listened to the show for more than 15 years. I remember listening where you were selling off commemorative acres. But seeing it, and particularly video 4 with the roping buckle award ceremony, I was moved to tears. The message you provide those children, about how "no one goes through life undefeated, but it's how you react " will remain with them for their entire life (and mine as well). I know Fred was at the ranch when you were setting it up, and although I could reminisce about funny stories he told about dogs and ex’s, about ABX turquoise buffalo shirts, about NASCAR or NFL picks, I choose to remember him talking to Don about the getting the cattle , breaking the horses, and naming the calf at the ranch. The stories fade, but the wonderful work you do there does not. “I love ya, Fred.”
Warmly,
B. Hildebrand

I-Man,

As a loyal listener and viewer on Fox Business, I am sorry to hear of the loss of your brother Fred. The love you each shared together is something that can never be replaced. The humor and antics that you shared on air were always fun to hear. At the sign off of each of your telephone conversations you shared with the public, you each said you loved each other and that is something each and every person should share with their parents, spouse and family members every day. Life is precious and each of us should learn from the love you both shared with each other. Live life to the fullest because tommorrow is not a given. I am not sure if you are a religious man, and I am not, but I do believe that Fred is in a better place and left Mother Earth full of memories we (and you) will have for a life time. Take care, and we'll see you on the air after your time of mourning.

So sorry to hear about Fred. I met Fred at a radio event in Tucson and had him sign my copy ot "The Fred Book". I enjoyed listening to his show "Out West" and guest spots on Imus in the morning. He had great wit and a great personality. Was sorry to see his obit in The Arizona Daily Star. Arizona will miss Fred.

I always enjoyed the show when Fred was on. The two brothers really loved each other, and it was shown by them saying "I love you" at the end of the call. With the untimly passing of Fred the world has lost a real man, a man true to himself. My prayers are with the family.

God Bless

One of the last of the true cowboys is no longer with us. Like the said about the ol' trail boss in Open Range, "he sure could cowboy." He fit the part: His looks (gnarly yet like he was carved by Remington). A gruff and sarcastic manner of speech and action. But deep down you knew he had a heart as big as a freight train.

He was my favorite part of Imus in the Morning. I would re-wind and listed to him again, or save it for the family. Almost always he had me in tears from laughing. One thing was always clear--Don and Fred were two brother who loved each other and could teach us all a thing or two about how to care for those who really matter.

Hey I-Man,
Sorry about the recent tragedy in your family. I'm a young guy, only been listening to or watching your show for a few years now. Fred was a funny dude. I had no idea he served in the military. I had no idea he wrote a No. 1 country hit. I had no idea he had a business or that he used to produce your show. Hell, I didn't even know he was younger than you. Hell, other than the photos you show on TV, I've never even SEEN Fred. All I know is that he's a funny dude on the radio, and for me, that's all that matters. Best regards to the family. Give an extra little squeeze to Deirdre for me.
Sincerely,
Kenny
PS Stop talking about your cancer, you wrinkly old bastard. So help me God...

When Fred spoke, you listened. You listened, because Fred was the true common man. He always made sense of things. Fred took a problem, and came up
with the perfect answer. He was so wise. Fred would make you say to yourself, "ya know what, he's right, why does'nt everyone see it that way." You 'll be missed
Mister Fred Imus, you'll be missed.

Our ears always perked up when we heard the Fred would be on Imus in the Morning.
What a fascinating personality! Strong family love always showed through. So sad to

I always smiled when Fred was on - loved his repartee and jokes and stories about his dogs and his obvious love for all of the IImus family. The bond between brothers was so strong and touching - even when driving each other nuts! The world is less interesting and fun without Fred in it. My sincere condolences to all the Imus family.

Been a fan of yours and his for years. I am so sorry for your loss as well as our loss. I know you were both very close and I a so sorry that he passed without giving you and all of us one more slice of his absolutely funny and creative stories about the mobile home. You have to play his stuff back on your show. God bless.
