This Isn’t Our Last Love Letter

Dear Don Don,

Way back in 92

I walked into the room and knew

Never felt this way before

I shook your hand while gazing into your eyes

And the feeling grew

As I took a seat I knew

A love that would have my heart

Forever

I knew

Way back in 92

They say love at first sight doesn’t always last or isn’t true

We were the exception to that rule

Our love had no where to hide

A spark set fire

As if this is how the universe started

I never doubted our love or what we could do

Together we grew

Forming a bond everlasting

That became our glue

My euphoria was YOU

I’m eternally grateful for the love and life we shared

For how fortunate we were :

“to have and to hold
through sickness and in health
Til death do us part”

Until we are together again

This isn’t our last love letter

I love you with all my heart and soul

Yours forever,

Deirdre  (Mrs. Hank Snow)

I’m fortunate to have fallen in love with, marry and make a life with the sharpest, coolest, funniest, most rare, bad ass, tender loving, loyal man on the planet, my husband Don Imus.

A True American Hero

I don’t know why it has been so hard for me to write about my dear friend Don Imus.

I certainly know what he meant to me, my family, my charity, my hospital and the millions of fans that listened and loved him for so many years.

I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.

But what most people don’t talk enough about is what he did for all of us.

In every sense of the word, he was an American Hero. His work with children with so many different illnesses and his dedication to their future was unmatched by anyone I have ever known or heard about.

Besides raising over $100,000,000 for so many causes, he took care of young people for over 20 years in a state where he could not breathe.  Along with his incredible wife Deirdre, he created a world where children were not defined by their disease. That was a miracle! He was a miracle.

I will miss him ever day for the rest of my life.
I was blessed to be a part of his and Deirde’s life.
No one will ever do what he did.
I love you Don Imus - A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

David Jurist

A Tribute To Don Imus

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.

Don Imus Was Abrupt, Harsh And A One-Of-A-Kind, Fearless Talent

By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

I just wanted you to know that I have never laughed so much as I have listening to your borther on the radio all these wonderful years, and to be honest, I missed him more than Imus when they were off the air....sorry Imus!

But, no matter how much you know the day is coming, it's still horribly painful when it actually happens. I've never liked it when people would say, "you knew it was coming" because not until the minute your loved one dies, does it become real. It is NOTHING you can prepare yourself for! It is so very sad, and I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dear I-Man
I am a long time listener from your NBC and Rev Billy Sol Hargus days. I was saddened to hear of your loss; Fred had a unique ways of looking at things, which mostly made perfect sense. Now when I wear my Fred's Auto Body shirt, I will think of him and say a prayer for him. I am so sorry for your loss.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am a long time supporter of the IMUS ranch (my Daddy is on the horse barn - Joseph D'Angelo)

We typically wake each morning at 4:15am to start our day with the IMUS family. Last week, we were out of town and just learned of Fred's passing on today's program. (The Cavuto tribute was amazing.) May God bless the family and friends of this American - one that was closer to the bulls eye of our values and thoughts than many will ever admit. Knowing that Fred was coming up on the program kept us glued to the set. We will miss him.

I have watched Imus In the Morning since before Wyatt and the Ranch came along. I love the interviews because Don is one of the great interviewers working today. But I always had some sense of what Don's guests were going to say. This was never true with Fred. I knew he was going to be original and funny. I always dropped whatever I was doing when Fred came on and was often late for work to hear every word he had to say. I knew I was going to laugh out loud. Some might say that Fred was about a half bubble off plumb. Wrong! it's this crazy world we live in that is off kilter and whopper-jawed. Fred was the one who could see it and point it out in a plain-spoken yet hilarious way. I will miss him.

I will miss the brotherly banter between Fred and Don. Fred brought a genuine perspective of the current events with a wink and a nod. Eternal be your memory Fred Imus, eternal be your memory!

I have listened to you for years on the radio even before you were on MSNBC and i always looked forward to you and Fred talking. I especially liked no matter how the conversation went you always said love you before saying good-bye. You were a good brother to him and i know you will miss him dearly but least you said it while he was here on earth and not before it was too late. Bless you and your family....

I-Man,
I-Man - Thanks for sharing Fred with us. No have no idea how much pleasure I've had over the years listening to you and Fred banter and joke. I will truly miss him. Although I share your philosophy that many people would love to have 69 years of life, somehow it doesn't seem long enough. RIP Fred.

my heartfelt condolences to Don, Wyatt and Diedre. Fred will be missed. I still remember him bitching about the juniper trees when the ranch was first built.

Mr. Imus, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I am a long time listener. Fred was one of my favorite guests. I loved the way he would give his opinion on anything. one of my favorite stories was running his german sheppard dog for 5 miles then reaching a spot where the dog would chase a rabbit. The dog always tried out. He than told us the next time he was going to drive the dog and give the rabbit a fresh dog. To anyone reading this it don't sound funny but the way fred told it as he told any of his tales , It was hilarious!!!
" I GOING TO BRING THAT RABBIT A FRESH DOG" REST IN PEACE FRED IMUS YOU WILL BE MISSED!!

Fred was quite the character and always fun for us on your show! If his son Donny was named after you, shouldn't Wyatt have been named Fred? Thank you for all the laughs.

In 2000, my husband Tom told me I needed to listen to Imus in the Morning. He had listened to the show in Washington, DC and in Boston while he was in school and he had just discovered the show on our AM station in Atlanta. While I was driving to work, I turned the radio on to your show and listened to one of Bo's movie reviews and then listened for another ten minutes. That night I told my husband he was nuts: no way was I going to listen to your show. My husband said, "listen again and give it time. You share the same sense of humor." It took me two weeks because after two weeks, your brother Fred was on and I liked him immediately. I shared his humor, his love of dogs and horses, and afterwards, began to listen for him: while I did, I finally got your show, you, Charles, Bernie, Rob, Lou, and everyone associated with what I have always felt was one of the best shows to listen to for it's creativity and originality. I have your book of photographs of the Southwest that you published with Fred that I will always cherish. My father just passed away at 86. I know you said today that there are children with cancer who would love to live to 69 and the Navy Seals that perished last week who would have love to live to 69 and I agree. My father would agree. Fred would agree. But it does not lessen the loss of someone who you are close to. God bless you and your family and the three sons Fred has as his legacy. Sincerely, Kathy and Tom Haynes

Fred Imus was a great addition to the Imus in the morning program. I enjoyed his wit, his charisma, his jokes, and his interraction with Don Imus. It was a real pleasure listening to the two brothers talk and joke around. The Imus in the morning program is absolutely the best there is !!!!
RIP Fred !

There are a rare few people you learn to love along life's highway. People you never met but followed and admired. Fred, like Don and Bernie, was one of my favorite life's highway buddies. You could imagine having any number of conversations with him just because he shared a sense of humor and intuitive intellect. I'll miss Fred. It's one more void. And, at 69 - same age as Fred -, these voids begin to mount up. It's no longer a spot on the CD where you just bump the player.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Fred in person, but I felt like I knew him by just listening to him on the Imus show. Loved his humor.
My prayers go out to the Imus family.

I'm with Cavuto...Fred just made me laugh, and I always had the sense he was the kind of guy you could leave your kids with...which, since I never met him, makes me a moron, of course, but that's how I feel. I'll miss him.

You could tell that the Iman loved him. He and Deidre were always good to him and took care of him. I know that they both are grieving and I am thinking of them.

Best I've heard:
Fred chatting with Megan McDowell (Rob), "I'd like to get you stuck in the doorway of my trailer and spend a couple days pushing you out."
LOL funny!
